- OREI Business Plan29 November 2006The Office of Regional Economic Integration (OREI) was established to facilitate regional cooperation and integration (RCI) in Asia and the Pacific. OREI assists ADB in pursuing an open and outward-looking regionalism in Asia and the Pacific that can serve as a building block to global integration. Based on ADB’s RCI strategy, the OREI Business Plan 2006-2010 sets out OREI’s mission, business principles, key result areas, and results framework.

- Asia Bond Monitor (ABM) November Issue Released14 November 2006The Asian Development Bank’s Office of Regional Economic Integration launched the ABM on 14 November 2006 at the Asian Bond Markets Summit in Singapore. The ABM analyzes the development of East Asian local currency bond markets in 2006 and contains a special theme chapter on bond market liquidity. Read the press release. - ADB Seminar Series on Regional Economic Integration: East Asian Currency Union 7 November 2006Professor Jong Wha Lee of Korea University discussed the feasibility of various types of currency unions, such as a dollar bloc, Euro bloc, Yen bloc, and basket currency bloc in East Asia; and the welfare effects of various currency unions for East Asian economies. - Working Paper Series on Regional Economic Integration22 November 2006In the latest Working Paper Series on Regional Economic Integration, Prof. Michael Plummer develops a blueprint for first-best regionalism based on best practices, then gauges the degree to which existing FTAs in Asia, both intra- and extra-regional, approach best practices. Most accords receive high marks in most areas, with the exception of rules of origin and certain service sectors. Read more.
- Infrastructure as a Catalyst for Regional Integration, Growth, and Economic Convergence19 Febuary 2006David Roland-Holst of Mills College explains how regional infrastructure can be a catalyst for economic integration, growth, and poverty reduction in Asia. He proposes infrastructure development goals to facilitate more coherent national and multilateral policies for infrastructure development. Read more.
- Restructuring Beyond the Subprime (ADB Headquarters, 18-19 September 2008)1 January 1971In his welcome remarks to the two-day conference Restructuring Beyond the Subprime that opened 19 September, ADB President Kuroda urged regulators and central banks to coordinate efforts to maintain the region's financial stability in the face of the banking turmoil in the US. He said Asia appears better cushioned to withstand the immediate effects of the turmoil, but warned that vulnerabilities and risks remain. Read the speech and news release.
