Cross-border Infrastructure

Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT)

The Indonesia Malaysia Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT GT) was established in 1993 and consists of several provinces/states in the island of Sumatra in Indonesia, Malaysia, and southern Thailand. In 2001, the members agreed on six models of cooperation concentrating on the Seamless Songkhla-Penang-Medan Economic Corridor. Implementing Technical Groups were established to evaluate and coordinate projects for each of the six models: cross-sectoral development (human resource development); development of hinterlands and intra-trade; infrastructure development; open market operations (special telecommunications zone); sectoral development (tourism); and trade and in-situ development.
