Asian Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Network
AECEN was founded in 2005 by environmental agency leaders from 13 Asian countries to improve compliance with environmental policies and legal requirements in Asia. The network provides a venue for exchange of innovative policies and best practices among member countries. Activities are executed through its secretariat through technical assistance, programs, knowledge support and small grants. To date, member countries include: Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, People's Republic of China, Lao PDR, Malaysia, the Maldives, Nepal, the Philippines, Singaproe, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
Partner agencies include, among others, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its regional program Environmental Cooperation-Asia (ECO-Asia), Asian Development Bank and United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
