Network of Asian River Basin Organizations (NARBO)

The Network of Asian River Basin Organizations (NARBO) was formed to assist river basin organizations (RBOs) introduce and operationalize an integrated water resources management (IWRM). NARBO was established by the Asian Development Bank, Asian Development Bank Institute, and the Japan Water Agency and was launched on 20 November 2003.

NARBO’s objectives are to promote the exchange of information and experience among RBOs and associated water sector agencies in Asia, and to strengthen their capacity and effectiveness in promoting IWRM and improving water governance.

Forty-five organizations from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Viet Nam have already joined NARBO as of January 2005.
