This report explores the role of technology in providing solutions to some of the key labor market challenges that Asian countries with progressive aging must face in order to boost productivity and sustain growth and development.

Asia is graying rapidly: its share of senior population aged 65 and over will double from 9.2% in 2020, to 18% in 2050. Some countries will experience a drastic reduction of its working-age population (ages 15–64), as well as aging of the current workforce. This report explores the role and potential of technology in addressing economic and labor market opportunities and challenges posed by aging. It shows how technology can harness gains from the longevity dividend and draws together national and regional policy recommendations for countries in Asia and the Pacific.

This publication captures the proceedings of the annual knowledge-sharing forum of the ADB-Asian Think Tanks Network, which was held in September 2017.

The ADB-Asian Think Tanks Network held its annual knowledge-sharing event on 20–21 September 2017 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. This publication captures the proceedings of the forum, which featured presentations on the regional economic outlook and various financing schemes for urban infrastructure projects. The network, comprising 43 prominent think tanks in Asia, aims to promote knowledge sharing and capacity building toward better policy support for governments.

This publication documents the annual knowledge-sharing event of the ADB-Asian Think Tank Network.

The forum, which was held in New Delhi, India, featured presentations on regional economic outlook, sustainable urbanization, and financing urbanization; and a dialogue among government representatives and think tanks. The network aims to promote knowledge sharing and capacity building of think tanks, particularly those involved in supporting governments in formulating and implementing medium- or long-term development plans and in responding to emerging issues.

The annual ADB-Asian Think Tank Development Forum provides a venue to promote knowledge sharing and capacity building. Topics discussed during the 2015 forum include global value chains, regional cooperation, and the middle-income trap.

In partnership with the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research, ADB held the forum on September 8–9 at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The forum featured research papers on regional economic outlook, global value chains, regional economic cooperation, transitioning from middle-income status, social inclusion, and capacity building for think tanks. This publication documents the dynamic exchange of ideas and information during the 2-day event.

This publication summarizes global and regional policy developments, country-specific experiences and policy issues on innovation and inclusion as discussed during the ADB-Asian Think Tank Development Forum 2014.

Partnering with the Korea Development Institute, ADB held the forum on 20–21 November 2014 at Seoul, Republic of Korea. The forum featured research papers that tackled issues on globalization and regional integration, innovation, middle-income trap, inclusive growth and social protection, and poverty and inequality. This publication documents the dynamic exchange of ideas and information during the 2-day event.

Innovation and Inclusion for a Prosperous Asia was the theme of the 1st ADB-Asian Think Tank Development Forum held on 30–31 October 2013 at the Tangla Hotel in Beijing. The forum was organized by ADB in partnership with the Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Center Beijing Office, a think tank of the People’s Republic of China’s Ministry of Finance.

This publication documents the discussions on the latest global and regional policy developments and country-specific experiences and policy issues on innovation and inclusion. It serves as an instrument to facilitate the continued successful exchange of information and ideas.
